The Story
Our story cannot be told without telling the story of those who inspired us…
Pedro Linares. Craftsman born in Mexico City in 1906, he began as an expert in the manufacture of cardboard figures for characters as Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. He created alebrijes after falling ill at age 30, the inspiration came while he was unconscious dreaming of a strange forest-like place full of fantastic creatures made up of different parts of animals. Pedro brought his vision to life and with it, the Alebrijes were born. In 1990 he received the National Prize for Arts and Sciences in the category of Popular Arts and Traditions, the highest recognition for artists and artisans awarded by the Mexican Government. Currently his legacy lives on through his family, which continues with this tradition and with whom we have had the pleasure of collaborating through the intervention with paint on our packaging in other collections.

La Historia
Nuestra historia no puede ser contada sin contar la historia de quienes nos inspiraron….
Pedro Linares. Artesano nacido en la Ciudad de México en 1906, comenzó como un experto en la fabricación de figuras de cartón para personajes de la talla de Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo. Creó los alebrijes después de enfermarse a los 30 años de edad, la inspiración llegó mientras estaba inconsciente soñando con un lugar extraño parecido a un bosque lleno de criaturas fantásticas formadas de diferentes partes de animales. Pedro dio vida a su visión y con ello nacieron los Alebrijes. En 1990 recibió el Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes en la categoría de Artes y Tradiciones Populares, la mas alta condecoración para artistas y artesanos otorgada por el Gobierno Mexicano. Actualmente su legado sigue vivo a través de su familia la cual continúa con esta tradición y con quienes hemos tenido el gusto de colaborar a través de la intervención con pintura en nuestros empaques en otras colecciones.
